Early in the morning I started at the railway station Vossloch. I had ice cold easterly winds and sunshine all day. E1a crosses the railway tracks a couple of hundred metres west of the station. Marking of the whole section is sufficient. However a number of markings require repainting as they are fading away. Fortunately we still have many hedges in Northern Germany. The first bit is across open fields until entering the forest Staatsforst Rantzau after coming through Aspern. Soon after the path arrives a wet area around the moor Bokelsess. Here the path gets near the motorway. In Westerhorn the railway is crossed. Short after the E1a passes by a huge fenced in photo voltaic installation. From there on I followed track of a former peat railway line. Near Mölberg the still existing part of the railway with locomotives and wagons can be seen. From here on it is just streight ahead until arriving at the canal Breitenburg. At Moordorf, were the canal is crossed the path turns off to follow the bank of the canal. Before arriving at Breitenburg a huge and deep open pit mine for chalk is passed by. It is disused as the concrete factory at Lägerdorf has moved to a new pit. Passing by the castle of Breitenbach I arrived at the river Stör. Now I followed the river to arrive at Itzehoe. I took the train to return home.
