VIa.3    Section Ternate - Tornavento   30 km

We started soon after having had breakfast at the hotel. Today became an easy hike and it was dry all day long. The first part took us along Lago di Comabbio to the town of Corgeno. Here we left the lake passing by a house with a number of strange monuments in the yard. Well art is not to be liked and understood by everyone. From here we went through forest trails to the town of Vergiate. After passing Sesona the next town along our trail we followed forest roads to Stazione delle barche. Here we wanted to cross a bridge across small river. Unfortunately it was closed for work. The workers where not willing to let us pass through. We had to stay on our side of the river and follow it towards River Ticino. Staying on this side of the river resulted in hiking several extra kilometers. Before arrivng at Centrale Idroelettrica Porto della Torre at River Ticino we stopped in the forest for lunch. I cooked my freeze dried meal while Steady had bred and cheese. While having the break a horse rider passed by.

Now the trail followed the river. We where passed by so many bicycles that it sometimes became enoying. The trail has a hard surface but was otherwise easy to walk. Nearby is the main airport of Milano but it never became too noisy. Having checked the map in the morning we did not forsee to find a place to camp for the night. So we booked a room at the Airport Motel at Tornavento. It was ok and we went to a nearby bar having pizza for dinner.
