And then it was our last breakfast together. Not having been successful getting a replacement tip for my poles yesterday, we took a bus to the sports shop Decathlon. They too had no replacement tips but at least they had hiking poles. After some thinking I bought a ney pair of poles. As I am hiking with poles most of the day I needed two poles with metal tips. Additionally I got some Cliff bars and freeze dried food. Back at the hotel I donated my old poles. Then we both went to the station. Here we had to part company. A rather sad affair despite us knowing so in advance. I got on the train heading back to Bibienna and Heather a bit later to Rome and on for her hike from the Black Sea to the Atlantic.

At Bibienna I had lunch and later took the bus back to Chiusi della Verna. Here I followed the E1 up to La Verna. It soon got rather cloudy and no sunshine. The ridgeline was mostly not as narrow as it had been previously and easy to walk. I met some pilgrims along the trail. I found a flat spot near Passo Rotta dei Cavalli at 1132m for the night.
