Upon having breakfast at the nearby restaurant I was taken by car back to the trail at Lago Santo. I started hiking back north along the E1. It was mostly sunshine in the morning and went uphill to Passo Boccaia. From up at the pass it was mostly along the crest and in the open giving me plenty of good views. Most of todays trail was very rocky making progress rather slow. The highest point today was at Cime di Romecchio at 1786m. I stopped at Bassarella for lunch out of the wind. While the sun was shining it was ok. If not it was rather cold. After lunch clouds became darker and more threatening by the minute. And then a thunderstorm came slowly moving in. I decided to get of the ridge and went down to San Pellegrino in Alpe.
It turned out that the hotel was only open on weekends. However I was offered to stay at the monastry. They have one bedroom with picnic table and a restroom with shower. I could stay for a donation. Inside it was almost as cold outside. I went to the little bar where I could sit by the stove with hot tea and a piece of cake. Here they had WIFI. Later I cooked my dinner at the monastry.
