After a quiet night in the cold dormitory I went to the bar for breakfast. Before going I left my donation for the night on the table in the dormitory. Stepping outside I was rewarded with a great view across the valley with some morning clouds. The bar was nicely warmed and I enjoyed my breakfast. Here I met two German hikers who had arrived late last night. They had talked to the host at the hotel until he finally let them stay there. Then I started along the paved road climbing back up to Passo delle Radici. The Hotel at the pass was of course closed. It was sunny but cold in the morning. Leaving the paved road I continued along E1 following a dirt road along the mountain ridge line.
Slowly it became more and more cloudy. At Passo delle Forbici I decided to continue along the lower dirt road instead of following the red trail. This trail stays in the open along the ridge line. This turned out to be a good decision. Lateron mountain Monte Prado at 2054m was up in the clouds. Even down here there where snow piles along the trail. Later in the afternoon it started raining. The Refugio Cesare Battisti at 1761m which I passed by was closed too. What else to expect. Shortly past Lago del Capriolo I set up my tent in the rain.
