I startecxd the day after an Italian breakfast. Soon I was accompanied by two peaceful dogs I did not plan to go to Santa Luca but instead followed very quiet minor roads slowly but continually climbing until I arrived below mountain Montalto (1956m). At one point the road was partly blocked by a landslide. Instead of clearing the road cars had found a way bypassing the landslide along the side on dirt. Well, that was a solution. At Putichej at 186+0 m elevation I passed by a kiosk with grill and tables and benches. Of course it was closed and it did not look like that it had been open this summer. Furtheron free roaming cattle blocked the road. I slowly passed by the quiet cattle. After passing by a former NATO base I arrived at the top station of the chairlift from Gambarie. Along a longer ski slope I went down to Gambarie. This is a winter sport community. Only this winter they did not have any snow. Accordingly almpst everything was closed in town. From here I had a good view of Sicily and the Street of Messina. In the centre I saw the chairlift base station. I spent the night at Hotel Centrale.
