The night was cloudless so temperatures dropt to just above freezing. My good sleeping bag kept me nicely warm. As I had camped near a lake my tent was unfortunately quite wet. I had to wipe off most of the water before packing. As soon as it was bright enough to start walking I moved on. In the beginning I hiked along Lake Tankum and then went under the Elbe-Seitencanal. What a strange feeling to walk under the metal trough with all the canal water over me. It better holds while I am passing through. Following the railway Berlin to Hanover I arrived at Sülfeld locks of the canal Mittelland.

From here E6 constantly changes direction along fields but generally heading south. By now it had a seasonally warm day. Most of the fields had been harvested. Some carried already winter grain. Near several wind turbines was a bench were I stopped for lunch. In the afternoon I crossed the motorway A2 and continued along fields and some forest stretches. Towards evening I turned of E6 to go to Volkmarode. From here I took a bus into Brunswick to take the train via Hanover back to Hamburg.
