Today I climbed up into the Harz mountains. It became another sunny day. Higher up it was not as warm as yesterday. On the way up there was still plenty of shade in the lower parts. Higher up the trees where mostly affected by pine beetles and therefore rather little shade. The E6 partly follows roads. There where far tooo many noisy motorcycles. I stopped for lunch at Reservoir Oker. There are several reservoisrs in the Harz mountains capturing the water. I had carried a lunch package from the hostel. The reservoir was well filled. Soon after I arrived at Altenau. Here are a number of typical wooden Harz houses. Then I arrived my highest point in the National Park Harz, Sieglitzeckes at 843m. From here on it slowly went downhill. I found a place for the nicht at the NP border near the hut Waidmannsruhe. I boiled hot water for my typical freeze dried food before turning in for the night.
