Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port
Col d'Irau 19 km
Today became a long hiking day. We started off with a cloudy sky. Later it became more and more sunny and it turned into a hot day. As common in the Pyrenees we had one long tough climb to do. Wanting to get to our days goal we had a late dinner in the sun. During the day we did not meet as many hikers as on previous days. For us rather late in the evening we arrived at Col d'Irau. This is an open grassy pass with a road crossing it. We were not sure where to set up our tents and spoke to two sheep herder. They recommended a spot with a bit of wind cover. They also directed us to a water source. Later three hikers inquired about the water.
Outside of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port it was still hazy in the morning
At lunchtime it was sunny
