Le Boulou

Argeles-sur-Mer                            38 km

This became our last hiking day as we planned to reach the sea today. We started off back to River Tech which we followed for a while. Than we came across the European Bycicle Path EV8. This is a path like the European hiking trails only meant for cycling. One part was still closed off but w tried it nevertheless. The section was finished, just not opened. It was a hot day. There even was a rest area with picnic tables. Only the water was doubtfull. We stopped for an early lunch. Soon after when we passed by some houses I approached someone unloading his car and asked for tapwater. His wife gave us a full bottle of still water and not water from the faucet. What a treat! All day long we could see the Pyrenees in the background. And than we arrived at the outskirts of Argeles-sur-Mer. Now it became busy and we walked with our packs amongst beachgoers until we finally got to the beach. Out of our shoes we went into the water. It was cooler than the Atlantic at the beginning of the hike. The beach sloped much steeper down than at Hendaye. This was it. We had one it. Now it was icecream time for celebrating.

From the beach we walked back to our hotel near the trainstation. There was a laundry and a food store nearby. Well fed and clean clothes we rested for the night in a hotel bed.
