Breisjøseter

Bjørnhollia                         20,8 km

 

I slept in in the morning to join others for breakfast. Subsequently I only left at 9 am. It bacame a warm day with more than 20° C alternating between clouds and sunshine. Todays hike was most of the time above treeline. Except for when walking across Pass Gravskardet the trail was not too rocky today. Up at the pas it was rocks only and no trail. The way down to Straumbu was far too steep and was sorly lacking switchbacks. Here clearly showed the unwillingsness of DNT of building a proper trail where needed.

 

At DNT Bjørnhollia I got one of the bunks in the large bunkroom. Luckily I got a bunk a bit separate from most of the others. The dinner was really crowded with only a very few seats vacant. What was surprising was that the vast majority of guests where female, something I did not experience at any other shelter. As I was the only non Norwegian no English was spoken and I had to guess what was served. During dinner time there was a rather heavy downpour and I was glad to be inside.
