Following an early breakfast two of us took a taxi back to the trail. We did not want to possibly wait a long time for a hitch. And the price split by two was reasonable. Being back on the trail we ran into a mountain bike. It was to be the only one along the whole PCT. It is illegal to ride a bike on the trail. Their tread tends to ruin the trail. As we blocked the trail he had no option to dismount and move of the trail. It took him a while to realize this but he did so.

Later the PCT passed through a longer section of burned trees. Such results of forest fires were to be on and off a companion along the trail. On day two I arrived at the first official detour of the PCT. The bridge across Deep Creek was considered not to be stable enough. Hardly any hikers took notice of this detour. Me too. Half way along Deep Creek there are hot springs. I didn't want to miss them. From a near parking lot plenty of day hikers were there. Never the less the water was a welcome refreshment. The bridge turned out to be quite stable. At the end of the valley we had to cross Deep Creek. Without getting water into my boots I just about managed getting across.

It was to be another hot and sunny day. Together with a group of hikers I took refuge under a bridge. We could not stand up and it looked like a camp of homeless people. At Silverwood Lake I had a longer break. The day use area was well visited and we could yogi some food. In return they wanted to know many details of our hike. Next day Cajon Pass was reached at lunch time. There is a PCT sign post for Mc Donalds. Quite a few hikers had already arrived. I spent around four hours inside avoiding the outside heat. Finally I had to leave the climatized place and to continue hiking. Just before dark a water cache was reached. Many bottles of water were stored inside a cabinet. Also a number of chairs and lounges were waiting for us hikers. Quite a few of us staid for the night. During the night some coyote visited us. Next day I continued to Wrightwood. Via the very steep Acorn Trail the small town was reached.
