There is just a very short stretch of trail in West Virginia. But in Harpers Ferry is the office of Appalachian Trail Conference. The club has been renamed Appalachian Trail Conservancy by now. Here a photot is taken of every hiker for the ATC archives. When going to Harpers Ferry for the second time I arrived by train from Washington DC. We ran into such a thunder storm that the train had to stop for a while waiting for it to die down.
