Maryland is another state with few miles of AT. The year before I had already hiked for two days here. Now I stated in Harpers Ferry and took a ride to the furthest away point I had hiked. I had arrived at Harpers Ferry by train from Washington. In Washington I had spent a few hours sightseeing around the city centre. While being in town a small plane had entered the no fly zone and the Capitol building was being evacuated. Everywhere I could see heavily armed police and I could see the building only from a distance.

Before evening I arrived in Pennsylvania.
