Until arriving at Highpoint the AT was not different from Pennsylvania. The trail follows a long and rather narrow wooded ridge in northerly direction. From Highpoint on it turns easterly and runs along the state line of New York. And it is here that mosquitoes started to bother me. Until arriving here they had hardly been around. The AT runs through wet and boggy very flat country site. There is even a longer stretch on an elevated board walk. This part was not very well maintained and plant from left and right came far into the path. And there are ticks. I had to take off my legs several of them. Just short of having to descent to Greenwood Lake the AT turns north again and crosses into New York.
