Continental Divide Trail (CDT)

11    Transfer by car:  Pagosa Springs - Denver - Encampment

The group was waiting for me outside the hostel. Upon loading everyone into the van I started driving to Denver. It took us most of the day. While driving we could see very well the snow covered upper reaches of the Rocky Mountains. And this is where the CDT passes through. In Leadville we stopped for dinner before going down to mile high Denver. Here we split up. The four younger ones went to one place and we three older ones to another. Beaker had arranged a stay at Lucky Man's place. They had met on their thruhike of PCT. Next day he helped us tremendously driving us through town, to REI and any other place we required. And then he drove us to Wyoming to continue our hike north. We passed through Berthoud Pass which was still snow covered. The CDT crosses this pass. When I came through here later in the year all snow was gone.

Snow covered Berthoud Pass. This looks more like winter sport then hiking. CDT crosses here the pass.
