I started in a light drizzle along the "Eckernförde" fjord. Soon it dried up and the sun came out in the afternoon. This section follows the Baltic Sea shoreline all the way until Kiel-Schilksee. From Strande I spared myself the path through suburbs into the city centre of Kiel. Instead I used a bus. The youth hostel is situated on the eastern shore of Kiel harbour.
