Soon past 5 am the first birds woke me up. When it became light around 6 am I got up. I had my first breakfast of cereals and packed up my backpack. Around seven am I was hiking again. As the town of Hameln was not far away I took my time. When I arrived in centre of town many shops where still closed. It was a relatively cold morning with a few drops of rain. I had a second breakfast with hot tea. Then I had a good look around in the interesting old town. The monument of the pied piper was of course on my list of must be seen places. Leaving town I crossed river Weser and followed a steep climb up to tower Klütturm. The final part of trail was with a number of switch backs. Today the trail passed through forests and open fields. E1 crosses a golf course with signs warning of golf balls. While having lunch at a spot above the town on Aertzen I had a great view of the country site. Having passed Hohe Asch I met a couple from Berlin with Backpacks. They were hiking E1 too and had completed everything from here to Flensburg. They planned to continue to Linderhofe to night. After some information exchange I moved on to reach the camp ground at Eimbke. At a restaurant near by I had warm dinner. Here I had completed Lower-Saxony. I am now in Northrhein-Westfalia.
