Following a long train ride I arrived at Siegen just short of lunchtime. I had a quick lunch at the station and started this section. It became a nice sunny afternoon. Upon crossing the railroad tracks the trail followed city streets for a short stretch. Then I entered forest. The soon to be crossed Autobahn could be heard from far away. Towards river Sieg at Freusburg the trail went steeply down. As I had no plans of staying at the hostel I saved ascent to and later descent from the castle which houses the hostel. At the watermill Freusburg I crossed river Sieg. on the other side I walked back uphill into the forests. Besides needle trees here are extensive beech forests.
Soon I reached the "Druidenstein". This is a basal cone showing nicely the rocks. As the name indicates it is claimed that druids performed their rituals here. After a short brake I moved on. Later I found a nice spot with picnic table to cook my dinner. It slowly became dark. I made it until shortly past Herdorf before looking for a spot for the night. Soon the tent was set up.
