During the night I was wakened up several times by airplanes. The nearby airport Siegerland could be heard. Shortly past 6:00 am birds where waking me up. Following a hearty breakfast of cereals I packed up my back pack und started hiking again. Today's goal was walking to Bad Marienberg to stay at the local hostel. Until almost reaching the airport the trail was on sandy roads almost straight ahead with very little climbing in the forest. Here I past buy "Trödelsteine". This basal area is directly adjacent of the E1 at 613m elevation. From just short of the airport I continued across open fields and only a few forested areas on paved roads. In the afternoon it started getting cloudy and it became cooler. Shortly before reaching Bad Marienberg E1 follows creek Bacher Lay through an extended former basal mine. Today it is a nature reserve. From the trail basal cliffs are visible. I arrived in time for dinner at the hostel. I was on my own for dinner and had a rich potato stew. And then I had a hot shower.

At Hohenseelbachkopf the E1 meets the mining trail

First green on larch trees

The trail club Westerwaldverein has marked most of it's E1 section with the newer European trail sign
