Yesterday I had time to spend in Constance. Amongst others I went to a laundry to wash my clothing. Also I was able to buy freeze dried food at a sports store near the central railway station. On the way to the hostel a short but heavy thunderstorm caught me. Luckily I could take cover at a bus stop. At the hostel I got a bed in a room in a tower without elevator. But it had a great view. There is WiFi at the hostel enabling me to download maps for the next part of my hike.
From the hostel I followed Lake Constance to Island Mainau. Here you have to pay an entrance fee to walk on the island. This early in the morning everything was still closed. Soon after at Littzelstetten I was back on E1. Again and again I had nice views of Lake Constance. Past Wallhausen the Marien Gorge was unfortunately closed due to landslides. However a detour was well marked. Here I met two hikers from Frankfurt who had come from Freiburg. All day long the weather changed from sunny to cloudy and back.
In Stahringen I had a pizza for dinner. After Stahringen the trail continues on a narrow path steeply uphill on Schlosshaldenweg to Porthöfen. Here on the steep hill side many rip nettles and blackberries blocked the trail. Without long pants it would have been difficult to move on. On top of this blow downs had to be navigated too. It took me quite a while to get to the top. On I walked across fields and through forest to Steißlingen. It was getting dark when I found a good spot for the night beyond Steißlingen.
