We slept in and started later than usually. Until lunch we continued following River Ticino. It became another sunny and warm day. At Ponte delle Barche we had to cross the river. Here was as nice little bar and restaurant. We staid for lunch. The bridge is a floating bridge build with many barches. As the river carried not so much water most of them where sitting on solid ground. On the other bank E1 follows River Ticino for a while before turning off towards River Po.
Now we passed through many fields. Here we saw some deer. It was good we hiked across the River Po flats early in the year and not in hot summer with only little shade. In the evening we arrived at the town of Gropello Cairoli. Here is a hostel at the local church. When we enquired about staying for the night they spoke no English and wanted to see the book. They did not care that I had hiked all the way from Trondheim in Norway which had been one of many starting points for pilgrimages to Rome and that we were obviously hiking. They where not really friendly and we had to move on. So we went in town to the only option the Motel Flower.
