VIa.7    Section Gropello Craioli - Sale   31 km

This became a rather windy day. It was blowing strongly from the east. Evenso it was sunny all day long it was a lot cooler than yesterday. The trail follow mostly minor roads all the way to River Po. The last bit before reaching the river became a lot busier with cars. There is the quite long bridge Ponte della Gerola across River Po. However there was not much water in the river and most of the bridge crossed dry land. We stopped at the other shore having lunch in the sun and out of the wind. Once we reached Gerola Nuova we left the main road and soon reached River Scrivia. We did not find any reasonable sites for camping and also found no lodging in the next town Castelnuovo Scrivia. The only option was taking a short bus ride to the nearby town Sale. There we staid at the Albergo Canone d'oro. The dinner became for us hikers quite luxorious with three courses.
