The previous day I had flown to Rome. There I bought denatured alcohol for my stove at a farmacy. Than I took the train to Cittaducale via Terni. From the station I walked to the accomodation I had booked several months ago. When arriving I learned they only had three rooms and by mistake where overbooked. She had arranged for a room at a hotel nearby. As compensation she cooked a very nice dinner. Then she drove me to the hotel. It was located directly at a busy road. Accordingly it was rather noisy in my room with a window looking at the road. That was an interesting start of my hike to Reggio Calabria.
I had breakfast at a local bar. I followed the roads I was driven yesterday back to E1. I did not want to walk back to Cittaducale as I had visited the town last year. So I started with great sunshine my hike south. Instead of following the E1 I took a parallel minor road. After my lunch break I was cought by several light showers. I stopped shortly for a Tee at a bar. Towards evening it started raining. Near the road I found a quiet spot for the night and set up my tent.
