For breakfast I had Linzer Torte. As I wanted to start hiking early for to pay the manager had to be called to the front desk. Soon I was back on E1. The trail continually went uphill. Until arriving at Cartore I had to follow the road Strada di Cartore. There where many cars parked. This is the starting point for climbing Monte Morrone at 2141m. From here on I continued along dirt tracks. They where partly rather wet. Finally I arrived at Passo le Forche (1221m). While getting there I had seen a number of hikers. On the way up two Italian hikers had passed by. They where out tenting for a week. Following a short break at the pass where it was cool but sunny I continued now downhill to Fosciolo del Marsi. At a local bar I had an early lunch of sandwiches and a salad.
I had another break in Cappelle dei Marsi. In the evening I arrived at Capistrello to spend the night at hotel de Meis. All day long I could see the snow covered mountain tops.
