VIc.18    Section Rifugio Forcetelle - Avellino   21 km

Following a quiet night it was mostly level unti arriving at Monastry Montevergine. This is quite a big assamble. Unfortunatenily the bar was closed. But from a fountain I could refill my water. The first cars arrived bringing some tourists. Down to Mercogliano is a funicular which was not operating today. From here on it was rather steep downhill. I could choose between following the road with very little traffic or the trails that cut off some of the roads switch backs. I choose the longer but better to walk road down to Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo. When I arrived everything was closed. The town centre was a nice little park. I found a bench in the shades and stopped for lunch. It consisted of bread with ham and cheese. There was a fountain too to refill my water supply. Finally I continued hiking to Avellino. I had reserved an appartment for the night. Nearby I could resupply.
