VIc.20    Section Sala - Fiume Calore   22 km

This turned out to be a long hiking day. Along a road with basically no traffic I slowly ascented near River Sabato. There are several Agriturismos. Again and again cattle was grasing in the maron plantations by the trail. At the end of the road the trail continues along dirt tracks. The trailmarking was good. Than it got steeper with many rocks and leafs on the trail. Finally I arrived at Pass Varco Collello Finestra at 1066 m elevation. The trail the other side down now follows the creek Calore. It had to be crossed a few times in the narrow valley. Shortly before it got dark I was shortly off the road della Cruce di Acerno. On a meadow under some trees I found a place for the night. This has been a warm and nice day.
