In the beginning I followed the gravel road downriver until arriving at the turnoff of Nordkalottleden. Shortly it became a steep climb. The trail was well travelled until reaching a nice waterfall of River Saraelva, soon after the forest thinned out until passing the tree line. The E1 continued uphill until arriving Stuorafjell. The sun was shining all day long. Up on the fjell I had a good view of Valley Buntajohka and the mountains on the other side. In the afternoon I met two Finish hikers who where out for a few days. Later I had to cross River Rapesjohka in my Crocks. From here it was not too far until arriving at Somashytta at Lake Somájávri where two Norwegian fishermen staid. They had not expected anyone showing up late in the evening. The hut from the Norwegian Forest Service had four bunks. So there was enough room for all of us.
