As happened often I left before any one else had gotten up. The first bit was across the dam of Lake Altevatnet. At the other end was a tunnel for diverting a river from downstream into the lake under construction so that the water can be used for electricity generation. The road the trail follows was partly still under reconstruction for the work site. Thereafter it was a trail on a four wheel drive track going uphill along River Salvvasjohka. It was sunny all day long with some clouds. Up on the fjell it was often quite wet and soggy. Nearby was a Samic village. On the other side of the fjell it went down towards Lake Torneträsk in Sweden. It was a long climb down. I staid for the night at Lappjordhytta which is the last hut on the Norwegian site near the border. There I stopped rather unusually early at six. Here I met a couple from Southern Tirolia who had passed me in the morning.
