Early morning I left the STF station and started walking through the center of Storlien before moving up the mountain towards Norway. Soon I left the trees behind and had from the top good views in all directions. The trail was well groomed, the sun was shining and I felt well. What more to ask for when hiking. Well before lunch I followed Lake Skurdalssjøn and arrived at the Norwegian border. There are a number of cabins along the lake shore. They are all on the Norwegian side and without any road access. The short stretch between the border and the E1 was neither marked not a trail at all, it was cross country.
Finally I saw the first trail marking. Here in Norway the colour changes from orange to dark red. It can be a dot, a blaze or the letter T. From here on I would follow these markings whenever they could be found. I followed Lake Skurdalssjøn for a while thereby crossing twice a lake dam. Mostly there was a real trail in the beginning. It became less and less the further I progressed. I met another German hiker whom I soon left behind. Around midday I prepared lunch in my usual way, hot water and freeze dried food. It tasted good and I moved on. But then towards late afternoon diarrhoea came back with full force. I felt weaker and weaker and finally arrived at the DNT hut Angeltjønhytta.
