It was still cloudy in the morning and mountain tops were hidden by clouds. But it was not raining. The train runs near by Bolnastua but does not stop here. The next stop towards Bodø is at Lønsdal about 22 km up the road. The Swedish couple that staid with me at the hut gave me a ride to the Arctic Circle Station about 6 km from here. They had no key and had been let in by the Norwegian worker. As I had a key he had left late last night driving home. I locked the hut and we drove off to the circle. This station is only open during summer season. They are selling typical tourist trash, food and clothing. For a number of items the difference is the referring to the Arctic Circle. Continuing we drove across Saltfjellet. This is the highest point of the railroad from Trondheim to Bodø. In winter they often had problems with snow along the line as well as on the road. I was dropped of at Lønsdal station. The next train was several hours away. I spent the time at the nearby Lønsstua. Before leaving one of the German hikers who had left Umbukta one day ahead of me arrived at the hut. We had a big hallo and I left for the station.
