I borded the train at Lønsdal for the ride down to the ocean town of Bodø. As there was no way of paying at the station I could pay the conductor on board the train. The first part of the trip is downhill to the end of Skjerstadfjorden. Then it is along it's shore thereby going through several tunnels. Well over an hour later the train arrived at it's final destination Bodø. The big station building is now mostly a hostel. I got a bunk in a big room for the first night but had to move to another room for the next night. There is not much in Bodø to be seen. There are daily two Hurtigruten ship arrivals. This shipping line started as a government owned Transport Company to isolated towns and villages along Norway's coast. Now it is more a cruise line and no more government owned. They also are home to Norway's national aeronautical museum. Otherwise there is not much else to be seen in town. On the last day in town it was raining like cats and dogs for a while. And then I could walk to the airport for my flight home. I had to change planes in Oslo. Of course my flight was the only flight of my airline that was delayed. Coming out of Oslo I could see the Northern tip of Denmark before it got really dark.
