Appalachian Trail (AT)

10    Massachusetts         90 miles / 144 km

After staying at Salisbury / Connecticut and taking my antibiotics against my Lyme diseace for three days I felt fit again and continued my hike. Towards evening of the first day I arrived in Massachusetts. The trail through this state is just a short 90 miles long. Within a weeks time I left this state again. Shortly after arriving in Massachusetts the AT follows a creek in Sages Revine. This was an interesting bit of trail.

I staid at a church hostel in Cheshire. As there apparently had been trouble with some hikers we were locked in for the night. As we were at ground level and could open the windows I was not bothered.

Next day I climbed Mount Greylock. This was the first real mountain since Grayson Highlands in southern Virginia. On top is a tower. The mountain offers a nice view. Coming down the northern slope I arrived in North Adams. Here we had with a group of hikers an "All you can eat" launch at a Chinese restaurant. To get to Vermont we had to climb out of the valley again.
