Haggenegg
Einsiedeln 14,4 km
Pfäffikon 10,5 km
I had a dry night under the roof of the forester's lodge. My rain clothes were still wet from yesterday evening. They had to wait for drying out later in the day. At first I had a longer climb before reaching Haggenegg. Once I reached the pass it went downhill on the other side. While descending I passed a group of cows whose cow bells could be heard from a distance. Once I reached the valley I had a second breakfast of cake and tea in Trachslau. Now the trail follows river Alp. I passed by the benedictine monastry Au. Then I reached Einsiedeln. I bought some food at the local coop. Thereafter I came by the impressive monastry Einsideln. This is from the benedictines too. The E1 almost passes by it's frontgate.
From here on the trail is a lot on pavement. Soon I reached Lake Sihl. Here I had a longer break. I had a nice view of the Alps. Later I crossed the river Sihl on Tüfelsbrugg (devils bridge). This is a covered stone bridge. Onwards I walked to farm Lützelhof. I arrived early around 5 pm. Besides me a group of girls from the nearby town of Präffikon planned to stay over night. They had chosen the straw pallet while I staid on my own on mattesses.
