After a few kilometres I arrived at the deserted town Blankenrode. Here a fortified town was completely burned down in 1390 and never rebuild. Today there are still earthen walls and ditches visible. Todays Blankenrode is a few kilometres away. Then I had to cross a motorway. From now on there were many open fields with longer paved stretches. In Essentho I had a piece of cake with green tea. The bakery is directly adjacent of the E1. Next town I came to was Marsberg. Here in Untermarsberg (Lower Marsberg) near a memorial to washwomen I crossed river Diemel. I also stopped for lunch at a restaurant. From here I had to climb to Obermarsberg (Upper Marsberg). Being higher up I had a good view of the valley of river Diemel. Towards evening I got to near the village of Adorf, a part of Diemelsee. Along the path I saw many wind power plants. I asked a farmer for permission to camp over night on his farmland. He agreed and I staid near Martenbergklippe in a former rock pit.
