Now I was hiking in the mountains Odenwald. Today there was no rain. In the morning I arrived at the long descent to river Neckar. Here the river is in a rather narrow valley. The descent seemed to be endless. The water level of river Neckar was quite high. In Ziegelhausen near the water front I had a second breakfast. Then it was time to climb back up out of the valley. It took me a long time until I reached the height again. Now it was time for lunch. Just in time the sun came out.
Up here the trail led from village to village and in between up and down. Towards evening I arrived in Birkenau. Luckily a bakery was still open. I bought some rolls for tomorrow's breakfast. It became time to consider where to stay for tonight. After a bit of searching I found a spot on a meadow at a forests edge. I liked the place but apparently some deer didn't like my presence. They complained during the evening, the night and next morning. I cooked dinner before retiring for the night.
