E1 Italy Porto Cerezio - Passo del Bocco

VIa.9    Section Rampina - Monte Spineto   25km

This was a cold night. Temperatures went down to below zero. We started into another sunny day. When in the sun it was warm but the wind was rather cold. The trail was easy to hike all day long as it followed the mountain ridge. Soon we reached an interesting sight, the towers of Sant'Alosio. They are from the 13th. century and where originally higher. In 1948 they where restored. All day long we had many great views. Towards evening we approached Monte Spineto. The name originates from the bush hawthorn. There is a monastry at the mountain. We stopped short of the monastry and found a reasonable spot with a good view of it. Based on the weather forcast we cowboy camped. All night long and every 15 minutes a bell from the monastry church announced the time. Nevertheless we had restfull night.
