E1 Norway Abisko - North Cape

Ia.16    Section Cunovuohppi - Reisavanhytta   28 km

The host had told my last night that the trail from Kautokeino to here was the worst and wettest part of this section. From here on it would be better. It turned out that he was correct. In the morning it started cloudy before the sun came out later in the day. Once the wind started to get stronger the mosquitoes where gone. The Nordkalottleden was mostly dry until arriving near Lake Ráisjávri. Here I had to cross wet meadows along a poorly marked trail. Luckily the worst part was made with wooden boards. The power line and my GPS helped me to find a way through this part which had become forested too. Finally I could follow a four wheel drive track to Reisavannhytta. Before getting there near some huts I could cross a creek on a bridge. There is a parking lot by the lake shore with a number of boats. A bridge across the river connected the private Reisavannhytta with the dirt road. I set up my tarp near the locked hut. Due to the number of mosquitoes I had to set up my bug net tent inside the tarp. Later I could hear some of the boat people on the other side of the river, one of the tributaries of Lake Reisavann.
