I had planned to re-supply at Sandvika which is 10 km away from Skjelbredtunet and today was Saturday. The supermarket closes early on Saturdays. I had set the alarm to get up really early. Being this far north the time made no difference as it is bright and the sun shining very early. I wanted to be at Skjelbredtunet by 1 pm latest and I made it. At 12 am I reached a parking lot and decided to take the gravel road to the main road. This was longer than continuing the trail but I figured here I could walk faster and thereby saving time. At the camp ground I had planned to set up my tarp and move on tomorrow. The warden advised me of the weather forecast for tomorrow which was some heavy rain. I changed my mind and got a cabin by the lake for two nights.
I asked for their recommendation for getting to the supermarket which is in the next village 10 km along the road. As it was Saturday the store would close early and not be open on Sunday. She lent me her husband's bike. The wind came straight at me. It was quite a strenuous ride. I had hiking legs but definitely no biking legs but made it in time. I re-supplied at the large store for the next leg of my hike. And then I had to bike back to the camp. Here I met three German hikers. One of them had started to hike the previous year in southern Spain and been hiking ever since. We exchanged information and talked the time away. There was no laundry machine therefore it was done by hand and hung up on a rope in the sun.
The weather forecast was accurate. It rained a lot on Sunday.
