I started hiking at my usual time of around 7 am. The plan was to walk along the road for 6 kilometres to Røyrvik, do my shopping and continue to the ferry port at Lake Namsvatn. From there I wanted to take the boat across the lake to Viermahytta and hike a few kilometers on. That was the plan. Upon arriving at Røyrvik I went straight to the gaz station. It includes a shop and a museum with plenty of information about the NP. I got the phone number from the ferry boat owner and gave him a call. All runs today where fully booked. I could get a seat tomorrow afternoon which I immediately accepted. This resulted in my first change of plans. Now I wanted to spent more time in the village and leave towards evening for a limited hike and setting up my tarp somewhere along the road.
Then I met hikers I had staid with before who where a day ahead of me. They had a place on the ferry today and told me of the weather forecast. It was to rain heavily later in the day. They also praised the local hotel in the brightest colours. I changed my plan again. I went to the hotel where I met other hikers and decided to stay for the night. I had a shower and started laundry. Then I went to the local super market to get the food for the next few days. They had a good hiker selection. In the afternoon more and more clouds came in and then it started to rain heavily. I was happy to be indoors. At the hotel I had a good dinner, watched a bit of TV and went to bed.
