E1 Norway Tynset - Meråker

Id.8    Section Stugudal - Nedalshytta 17 km

Following a hearty breakfast I went back along the paved road the way I had come until reaching the gravel road to Vektarhaugen. Now it went constantly up passing a number of summer houses. Vektarhaugen is on the other side of River Vestre Rotåa which is crossed by a pedestrian bridge. After walking along a short stretch of trail the E1 leaves the river and runs not far from the Swedish border along the slope of Mountain Nimmehtsgaejsie to Lake Nesjøen. Hereby the trail crosses a number of creeks. Now it had started to rain again. The rain got stronger and stronger. Therefore I did not take any further pictures. The trail became more wet by the mile and the normally small creeks where running high.

When crossing one of these creeks I slipped and fell onto a large rock that was sticking out of the water. I kept my back pack and could just prevent following into the water. Only my hiking poles took a bath. They drifted away and I would not find them again despite all efforts spent. Now I decided to continue along the road which ran further down the slope and parallel to the trail. Cross country I arrived at the road and followed it until the end at Nedalshytta. There was little traffic on the road. When I passed a tunnel mouth I took cover from the rain for a moment and relaxed. Then I could see from a distance across the valley of River Nea Ganka the Nedalshytta. I had called them yesterday and reserved a room plus meals for the night. Following a nice shower I had a welcome warm dinner with plenty of conversations from other guests. Unluckily I could not buy replacement hiking poles. Instead on of the staff cut a wooden one for me. That was very helpful during the next couple of days. Thank you very much!!
