Ulricehamn

Årås 20 km
I slept well into the day and had a nice breakfast at the restaurant adjacent to the youth hostel. Then I walked into the centre of Ulricehamn. At the tourist office I had a discussion about some possible improvements of their map from the point of view of a long distance walker in respect to the map I had been mailed by the them. As there don't seem to be many long distance walker a reporter from the local paper was called for an interview. Finally I went back to the youth hostel, picked up my stuff and continued on Redvägsleden. The tourist office has a separate map of this path. The weather meant it well with me today. All day long it staid dry and even some sunshine. Near Åspås the E1 separates from Redvägsleden. From there to Mullsjön the path has no designated name and follows roads only. Fortunately only the section between Böne and Knätte are paved. Everything else is a gravel road. The youth hostel at Årås is in an old house immediately adjacent to the path. The hostel wardens were not there and could not be reached by phone. Luckily a couple was there for the night. So I decided to move in and left my payment in the guest book next morning. The couple treated me to a glass of wine for dinner.
The paths Redvägsleden and Åsundenleden are meeting here (sections of both are part of E1)

Jordkulan near Redvägsleden was occupied until 1885 and has been restored.
