I started after having had breakfast as early as possible for todays hike to Finse. I wanted to catch a late afternoon train to Geilo. Todays trail was relatively good to hike. It went uphill most of the time until arriving at hut Klemsbu. Well before getting there I had to cross many snow fields. Due to the number of hikers it was easy to follow the track across the snow. From the hut it went downhill in the valley of River Finseelvi down to the train station Finse at Lake Finsevatnet. I had some time to spent before my train coming from Bergen would arrive. I had my lunch. Finally the train arrived and I borded it for the ride to Geilo.

 

Arriving in Geilo I found out that almost all Hotels where fully booked. After walking from one to the other hotel I finally found a room at the Geilo Highland Hotel where I staid for 2 nights. I spent the evening and next day shopping food for the next leg. I also bought a new pair of boots as several seams had broken on my boots. I still had too far to walk to try getting along with my current ones. As they where besides the seams still in good shape I mailed them back home for repair. Surprisingly there is no shoemaker in Geilo.

 

When wanting to take the train back to Finse I found all trains until lunch to be bookied out. Having read the weather forcast which was not so good for the day I decided when arriving at Finse to stay for the night at the DNT hut. This gave me half a day of additional rest before hiking through Hardangarvidda which turned out to be a good decision.
