Kvås 31.0 km
What I had hiked up yesterday I had to go down again today. Passing by a number of vacation homes I was back on a gravel road. It took me down to Lake Øre. I continued on road 4040 which lead me through forest and open fields. To the right a cliff accompanied me for a while. At Verdal I stopped for a moment at a ski hut which had a picknick table. Just before arriving at Store Kvåle I stopped for lunch. Here I arrived at my first paved road which I had to follow for a couple of kilometers before turning off on another gravel road. I passed by Lake Gletnesvatnet and through some more forested as well as farm lands. Then the peaceful hike was over. From now on I had to follow the paved road 43 for the rest of the day.
I had planned to stay for the night at Kollemo at a campground for the night. It's on my map: however there is no campground. It is on the school ground and only used for an annual festival. The nearby supermarket at Birkeland was closed as it was Sunday. So no campground, nothing to drink, no ice cream but many kilometers to go. By now it was almost 5pm. As it was Sunday the traffic was not so bad. Next stop was at Snartemo. There is a railroad station. The tracks come out of a tunnel on one side of the valley for the station and immediately return into another tunnel. Besides the station is the small park Bautaparken. Here is a monument for the ancient sword Snartemosverdet is part of the findings from the farm Snartemo. It was found with other items in a tomb dating from around AD 500.
As I still had to walk a while I only rested shortly. The road continued downstream along River Lygna. Towards 8pm I finally arrived at Kvås. There is nice waterfall I passed by fast as I was done for the day. I left the road for the campground Øyna. There was no host, just a number to be called. When talking to them it turned out that I would have to book online. Well, no WIFI means no internet for me. And even when having WIFI my bank is making payment online with the credit card so difficult whith first the PIN and than one password and another one and another one which I can't really recall. After some back and forth they trusted me enough that I would pay up when back home and I could stay for the night.
